Early in 2015, Dr. Beers set out with a medical and dental team from Global Health Outreach to northern Cambodia.
They were blessed by the people they could serve there. The need was great, the 18 member team were able to provide care for a total of 4,595 patients in the eight clinic days! This included 2,757 medical, 1,455 eyeglass, and 383 dental patients.
This all took place in eight busy clinic days. This is more patients cared for than many other GHO teams usually see.
They were also able to leave about $3,000 with Dr. Yaren, one of our two key National Partners. He administers the Cambodia Fund (formerly called “the Rice and Referrals Fund”). Dr. Yaren will try to follow-up on twenty documented patients that we saw in our medical clinic. Some have suffered from a prolapsed uterus for years, others have tumors, several require eye surgery and other various medical conditions.
These limited funds cannot address all of these medical concerns, but team prayed that God will guide Dr. Yaren as he seeks to provide needed care for these people. Sometimes GHO is able to assist by referral to another organization that will provide care. In other cases, they can assist by providing the needed transportation from the distant province to the city for care.
And in other cases, the GHO can fund the entire cost of the needed care.
